Can we talk about dropping $300 on a meal planning subscription?
On one hand, that service gave me 20 perfect dinners with zero food waste, but on the other hand, I could've just spent the $300 on takeout and saved the headache of chopping veggies for two hours. The recipes were solid, but my wallet took a hit for convenience. Did anyone else find these prep plans actually worth it, or did they just burn cash?

So I got this meal plan kit once and spent like an hour trying to figure out which drawer the garlic press was in. Ended up using the bottom of a glass jar to smash the cloves, and my wife still gives me grief about it. But honestly the recipes were decent and I didn't have to think about grocery shopping for a week, which was nice. Then I realized I could just buy frozen chopped veggies and save myself the hand cramps.

Man, @martinez.kim just unlocked a memory for me - I definitely smashed garlic with a beer bottle once and felt like a genius. But here's something I haven't seen anyone mention: those subscriptions are actually a sneaky way to train yourself on kitchen skills. After three months of their boxes, I knew how to chiffonade basil and break down a chicken without YouTube. Now I just recreate the recipes from memory with regular groceries and save the cash. So maybe think of it as paying for cooking classes with dinner as a bonus.
