Just read that the average person spends over $1,100 a year on subscription services they forget about.
I found this in a report from a bank I use, and it makes me wonder if we should push for laws that make companies send clearer renewal notices or if it's just our own job to keep better track of our money.

You said "forget about" but isn't it more that they just don't use them? I check my card bill and see stuff I signed up for but never open.

My buddy Jake had a $14.99 monthly charge for a meditation app for almost a year. He downloaded it during a stressful week, used it twice, and completely forgot it was even on his phone. He only noticed when he was looking over his bank statement for something else.

Forget about laws. Companies already send emails for renewals, people just ignore them. The real issue is how easy it is to sign up with one click but canceling is a huge pain. They design it that way on purpose, so the blame isn't just on us.
