Spent $300 on a financial planning software and it missed my biggest tax deduction

I used it for my freelance income last April and it never flagged the home office credit until my accountant caught it, so has anyone else found these tools just aren't built for self-employed people?

Self employed 15 years and I quit using those programs after year two.

Yeah but the spreadsheets fight back less than the software does.

Oh man, same problem here. I tried two different software packages last year and both missed my mileage deduction completely. My accountant found over $2,000 in write-offs that neither program even asked about. They're just not built for us freelancers. I stick with a good spreadsheet and my accountant now.
