Spent $800 on a tax prep service and it felt like a waste

I paid a local firm to do my taxes this year. The whole thing cost me about $800. They filed everything, but I looked over the forms and they missed a few deductions I know I could have claimed. I ended up doing the math myself after and saw I could have gotten a bigger refund. It makes me wonder if I should just use software next time. Has anyone else had a bad experience with a paid tax service?

Unreal. That's not just wild, it's a full on tax season horror story. Someone's accountant messed up big time. I'd be checking every line of that return twice.
