That one Tuesday when my savings account hit zero and I had to eat ramen for a week

Last fall I had this crazy week where everything went wrong at once. My car needed a $600 repair on Monday, then my landlord raised rent by $150 starting that same month. I checked my bank account on Wednesday and there was literally $12 left after bills. I ended up living off a 24-pack of instant ramen and some eggs for the next 7 days. The worst part was I had to say no to a friend's birthday dinner because I couldn't afford it. Has anyone else had a sudden cash crunch like that? How did you bounce back?

I mean c'mon, ramen for a week is barely a hardship, people do that by choice. I've been down to my last twenty bucks before and it sucks but you just pick up extra shifts or sell some stuff. Sounds like you made it through fine, don't think this is worth stressing over that much.

Aw man, you're totally right about people choosing ramen. I feel like that's actually kind of a good point about perspective though. Like yeah, ramen for a week isn't the end of the world but it's the feeling of having to do it that gets to you, you know? It's less about the noodles and more about that nagging voice in your head wondering if you're gonna be okay. Once you've been through it a couple times though you kinda build up that armor where you just figure it out and move on.

It's funny how people always downplay money struggles until it happens to them.
