That week in March when my entire emergency fund got wiped out
It was a Tuesday when my car's transmission went, a $2,800 repair. I thought that was the hit. Then two days later, my dog needed emergency surgery for a blockage, another $1,200. By Friday, my landlord sent a notice about a surprise city fee adding $75 to next month's rent. I had $4,000 saved, which felt solid, and it was gone in five days. What stood out was how fast it went and how each thing was totally unrelated. I was left with $25 in my checking account until payday. It was a brutal lesson in how life doesn't care about your budget. Has anyone else had a string of bad luck that just erased their savings like that?

Yeah, that "totally unrelated" part is what gets me. It's like life waits for one weak spot and then piles on. I've seen it happen to so many people, where it's never just one thing.

Right, @wendy628, it's like dominoes falling. My car's transmission went last month, and then my water heater burst two days later. It's never just the one bill, always a whole chain of them.

Feel for you, @young.kim, that's a brutal combo. It really does feel like bad luck comes in waves sometimes. Hope things start looking up for you soon.
