Dropped $500 on a home inspection that missed a leaking roof
The inspector spent 3 hours going through every room but somehow skipped the attic, and now I'm looking at $4,000 in water damage after the first big rain - has anyone else had a home inspector miss something obvious like that?

Check your state licensing board for inspectors.

$4000 seems steep for a little roof leak, are you sure it's that bad? A handyman might fix it for way less than calling in a big contractor.

Did you get more than one quote on that roof leak? Sometimes handymen can miss the real problem like rotted decking or a bad flashing job that ends up costing you double later on.
