I thought the home inspector was just being picky about a loose outlet

Honestly, I rolled my eyes when he spent 5 minutes on a single plug in the bedroom. Ngl, I figured he was just padding the report. But when he pulled the cover off, the wires behind it were totally charred and melted. That $400 inspection fee saved me from what could have been a real fire in my new place. Has anyone else had a small thing turn into a big find during an inspection?

Man, it's wild how often the small stuff points to the BIG problems. Like a tiny drip under the sink that ends up being a whole pipe about to go. Makes you pay attention.

Tbh, that's exactly why I never skip an inspection now. My guy pointed out a small crack in the basement wall I would have ignored. Turned out the whole foundation had a major water issue they'd just painted over. Cost a fortune to fix, but finding it before I bought the place saved me. You just never know what's hiding behind the small stuff.

Spot the small signs before they become huge money pits.
