Got chewed out by a customer for using the wrong brush on her doodle
She told me I was ruining her dog's coat with a regular slicker and made me switch to a curved one. Has anyone else had a brush recommendation that actually changed how you groom your own pets?

Used to think a brush is just a brush, but that curved slicker made a real difference on my shepherd mix. The undercoat came out way easier and I stopped leaving those little rake marks on her legs. Still use a regular one on the topcoat though, just not for the feathering.

Three weeks and fifty bucks in brushes later I finally figured out the same thing lmao. The curved one is a game changer for the feathering area for sure, I used to just avoid brushing my aussie's leg fluff because it was too annoying. I still grab the slicker for the body but the curved one gets into those spots without making her look like she went through a paper shredder. The rake marks thing is so real though, I felt bad when I noticed how much pressure I was putting on the straight brush. Now I just keep the curved one in the living room and the regular one in the grooming bag so I don't mix them up mid-session.

Oh come on, you're still getting rake marks because you're using the wrong technique, not the wrong brush. A standard slicker works fine on feathering if you actually hold it at the right angle and don't press down like you're scraping butter. It's a grooming tool, not a miracle cure.
