Tried jumper cables vs a cheap battery pack for my dead F-150
Thought I'd save time using that $40 battery pack I got off Amazon, but it barely cranked the engine after 15 minutes. Jumper cables from my neighbor's truck got it going in 2 minutes flat. Has anyone else had luck with those portable packs or is it just me?

Read a mechanic say those little packs are for topping off a charge, not dead batteries like yours.

Oh man, my buddy tried one of those cheap packs and his truck wouldn't even click!

Oh geez, I've seen that happen too. Those super cheap ones just don't have the guts for a dead battery bigger than a lawnmower's. My cousin bought one from a gas station and it barely lit up its own little light before dying completely. You really gotta spend at least 50 bucks to get something that'll actually turn over a V8.
