A client in Tampa told me my quarter round cuts were 'sloppy' and it actually made me change my whole approach.

Tampa clients are the final boss of trim work.

Yeah, you gotta show them the seam with your finger BEFORE you paint. They see a shadow and lose their minds. Bring a bright work light to the final walk-through and put it right on the crown molding. Shows every detail, good and bad. Gets you ahead of the "I see a line" call the next day.

Bringing a work light to the walk-through is pure genius. It's like turning their nitpicking superpower against them. They get to feel like inspectors finding the "flaws" you already pointed out, and you get to avoid the callback. Tampa folks would still find a way to complain about the light's shadow, though.
