Had to choose between glue-down and floating click for a 1200 sqft basement job
Last month I was bidding a finished basement in Portland and they wanted LVP. I was torn between glue-down and floating click. Glue-down takes more time on the subfloor prep but it feels solid underfoot. I went with floating because the concrete had some minor moisture readings around 4%. I finished it in two days solo and the customer texted me a picture of their kids playing on it yesterday. Anyone else lean one way over the other for basements?

dude floating click is the way to go in a basement. glue down is just asking for trouble if the slab breathes at all.

That part about the moisture readings got me. I used to be all about glue-down for basements but after dealing with a similar moisture issue on a job last year I switched to floating. Never looked back.

Oh man, I read this article recently that tested glue-down versus floating in basements with high humidity! They had this lab setup where they simulated a damp concrete slab and the glue-down planks started cupping after like a month. The floating floor was totally fine though. That's what sold me on floating for basements even though I used to be a glue-down loyalist for years. The extra subfloor underlayment really helps too, especially if you get the ones with the built-in vapor barrier.
