I always thought you could get away with a 1/4 inch gap on floating floors. A job in Phoenix last summer proved me wrong.

Yeah, Phoenix is a special case. Out there you really need to push it to a half inch gap, no joke. The boards just keep moving all summer long. A lot of guys will even use a bigger gap on the long walls.

Phoenix heat is a whole different beast. I learned the hard way that even a 3/8 inch gap can close up out there. The expansion in that dry heat is just relentless.
