My old boss in Cleveland told me to always use a full spread of adhesive on vinyl plank, said it was the only way to last. I argued for years until a big commercial job in 2018 proved him right.

Used to think that was overkill for residential work. Then I saw a full glue-down vinyl plank job in a busy cafe after five years. Not a single seam had lifted or made noise, while a floating floor nearby was wrecked. Changed my whole view on the method.
