PSA: Once saw a guy use a rolling pin to smooth out sheet vinyl because the roller broke. It worked, but looked ridiculous.

My buddy once used a glass bottle to flatten his sheet vinyl when the proper tool broke. Looked absolutely ridiculous but it did the trick.

That 'did the trick' part worries me a bit. Glass bottles can have tiny bumps or seams that leave marks on the vinyl surface over time. Also, if the bottle isn't perfectly round, you might get uneven pressure and bubbles later. It works in a pinch, but I'd keep an eye on those spots for a few weeks.

You know, I used to think any heavy cylinder would work in a pinch. But after seeing a neighbor's vinyl floor a year later, I changed my mind. They used a soup can and you could still see faint ring marks where the seams were. The right roller spreads pressure evenly, which matters more than I realized. Now I see why using a random bottle or pin is a real gamble for the long term.
