Remembering the old 9-inch roller versus the new spray systems for glue-down

Back in the early 2000s, I had a huge commercial job in Boise, about 5,000 square feet of vinyl sheet. The choice was between using my trusty 9-inch roller and a new spray adhesive system I'd just heard about. I went with the roller because it felt more controlled, but man, my arms were shot for two days after. Anyone else stick with the old tools for way too long before switching?

Oh man, that roller arm pain is too real.

Ever wonder if the pain is worse because we're holding our breath while rolling? @burns.jenny I catch myself doing it, especially on tight spots like the side of my calf. That extra tension just feeds right back into the arm and shoulder. Making a point to breathe out slowly during the tough parts has been a game changer for me.

Blair_martin is onto something with the breathing thing. I used to hold my breath and then my whole face would get tense, which just made the whole roller session feel like a weird, painful yoga fail. Now I try to make a point of breathing out like I'm blowing up a really stubborn balloon when I hit those calf knots. It doesn't make it hurt less, but at least I'm not turning purple.
