Tbh, saw two tile installations fail this month from river dampness, check your subfloors.

Seriously, damp subfloors are a killer. Watched a bathroom job peel up because the adhesive never set, just turned to soup. That damp proof membrane underneath is everything, or you get mold and black fuzz growing behind the tiles.

Damp proof membrane everything? Not if the subfloor's soaked.

Tell you what, that soup adhesive thing is exactly what happened to my neighbor's kitchen. They had to rip the whole floor out. It's a total mess when the moisture comes up from below. A membrane is just a band-aid if the slab or wood underneath is already wet. You have to find the source and fix it first, or you're just trapping water. Really makes you check your own place twice.
