I used to think those online flower subscription boxes were just a gimmick until I saw one of my regular customers in Chicago cancel her weekly order after trying one for 3 months.
She told me the convenience of having a curated bouquet automatically delivered to her office every Monday morning was worth the higher price, which made me reconsider my whole stance on competing with direct-to-consumer services.

That part about "convenience being worth the higher price" is the whole game now. I read an article that said people will pay a big premium just to not have to make one more decision. It makes total sense for things like weekly flowers.

Totally, it's the mental tax that gets you. Set up a recurring order for anything you buy regularly, saves so much brain space.

Oh man, that hits home! I got my mom a three-month gift from one of those services last year, and she loved it so much she kept it going herself. She said the same thing, that not having to remember to order or go pick something out was the whole point. It really is about removing that little bit of mental work, even for something nice like flowers.
