Switched from foam to chicken wire for a big arch job

The foam base soaked up all the water and drooped by noon, but the chicken wire frame held everything perfect for three days straight. Saved me from a total redo on a $1200 wedding order. Anyone have a go-to brand for that heavy gauge wire?

Foam is such a trap for that exact reason. It acts like a sponge and just gives up on you. I've had a whole column of flowers take a nosedive into the punch bowl because of it. Chicken wire is the only way to go for anything that needs to last more than an hour. That heavy gauge stuff is a lifesaver, even if it's a pain to cut. I get mine from the farm supply store in town, the kind meant for fencing.

You're overselling chicken wire a bit. Foam soaked up water because you didn't wrap it with waterproof tape or plastic sheeting first, that's a beginner mistake not a material flaw. I ran a 1500 centerpiece order off wet foam in July heat without a single droop, but I also seal every base with garbage bags before I start.

Wait, doesn't chicken wire rust after a few soaks too though?
