Vent: A wedding coordinator in Greenville made me lose an hour of time
I had a wedding gig last Saturday at a venue in Greenville, the old mill place. The coordinator told me the bride wanted all the centerpieces done by 10 AM, so I got there at 6:30 to start. At 9:45 she walks up and says the bride changed her mind, wants everything moved to the outdoor gazebo instead of the tables inside. I had 45 arrangements already placed and wired down. It took me and my assistant an hour to undo everything and redo it out there, and she just shrugged. Has anyone else dealt with coordinators who don't communicate changes ahead of time?

That coordinator definitely dropped the ball (sorry, had to). You don't just walk up 15 minutes before deadline and drop a whole new setup on someone like that. The bride probably thought the coordinator was handling it all behind the scenes, but that's exactly why they're supposed to keep you in the loop before the morning of.

My friend got married last summer and had a coordinator who basically did the same thing. She showed up the morning of the wedding with this whole new seating arrangement because "the tent company messed up the setup." My friend had no idea until the coordinator was like "hey, here's the new plan." It was a total mess because people were confused about where to sit and some tables had way too many chairs. I mean, the coordinator should have texted her the night before at least, not waited until everyone was walking in.

Wait, you mean the coordinator didn't tell the bride about the changes until the last minute? Yeah I used to think coordinators just handle everything silently, but you're totally right @jordanblack. They gotta loop you in way earlier, or stuff like this is bound to go wrong.
