Found my grandpa's old slide rule in a box of his things
He taught me how to use it when I was maybe ten, but now I just grab my phone for any math. I think I'm going to try learning it again, just to feel that click of the moving parts. Does anyone still use these, or know a good place to start relearning?

Why bother learning a dead tool? That click you like is just nostalgia, not real skill. You already have a better calculator in your pocket.

The abacus is still taught in schools across Japan and China, smith.anna. It builds a deep sense of number relationships that a calculator screen just doesn't give you. That click is about understanding how math works, not just getting an answer. Calling it a dead tool misses how it trains your brain in a way modern tech often skips.

Totally agree, that physical click builds a different kind of math sense.
