Fountain pen restoration has me puzzled

I got an old fountain pen writing again after cleaning. The ink flow isn't smooth, and it skips on upstrokes. Is this a common issue with vintage pens?

Is your pen just being dramatic? Sounds like it's got attitude from sitting in a drawer for 50 years.

Got me wondering, what kind of pen is it? A fancy fountain pen or just an old ballpoint?

Actually it's a pretty normal ballpoint, the kind you'd get at a bank in the 80s. The drama is all in the dried up ink, it's like it's fighting to write. Honestly it's kind of a mess but I'm weirdly into it. Feels like waking up a grumpy old thing.
