My grandpa told me to stick with film photography back in 2005

He said digital was just a fad and that the skill of developing your own prints would always be special. I rolled my eyes and sold my old Minolta X-700 to buy a digital point-and-shoot. Now, 19 years later, I'm hunting for that same camera model online because I miss the whole process, from loading the canister to watching the image appear in the tray. That tactile feeling is totally gone from just clicking a button. Has anyone else gotten back into developing their own black and white film at home?

Wait, you sold an X-700 for a point-and-shoot? That's a brutal trade looking back! I get what @lindal13 means, but man, that camera was a classic. The whole hands-on process is just something you can't replace.

Sometimes the best camera is the one you'll actually carry around every day.

I used to think he was wrong, but now I get it!
