My grandpa's friend in Tucson said my pressed flower collection is 'real history'
I was showing him my 2023 book where I pressed wildflowers from a hike near Flagstaff, and he got quiet. He said his mom did the same thing during the war to remember her brother, and that my book wasn't just pretty, it was keeping a story alive. It hit me that this hobby is about more than just plants. Has anyone else had a moment like that, where someone saw a deeper meaning in your old hobby?

Wait, isn't Flagstaff a bit far from Tucson for a local hike? Anyway, that's a really cool story. It's wild how a simple thing like pressing flowers can connect people across so much time. His mom's story is the real history, and now your book is part of it too. That's a heavy thing to realize about your hobby.

Actually reminds me of my aunt's button jar. She kept it for years, just a big glass jar full of random buttons. I thought it was junk. Then my cousin found it and started asking about them. Turns out each button came from a piece of clothing from a different family member, some long gone. That jar was a whole family tree. Makes you look at old stuff different.

My grandma's button jar was just clutter we threw out last spring. Sometimes old things are just old, @faith_king.
