Am I the only one who just learned how old the trees in my neighborhood park are?

I was walking my dog and saw a new plaque on a huge oak, it said it was planted in 1923. Has anyone else found a random fact on a walk that blew their mind?

Check the dates on old fire hydrants and sewer covers. Saw one from 1910 stamped right into the iron, made me realize how much of our daily world is ancient and ignored. That stuff outlives us all.

Fire hydrants are usually newer than that, but sewer covers can be super old. What's the oldest date you've found?

Totally get that feeling. Found a cornerstone on my library with the builder's initials and 1898 carved into it. Makes you stop and picture the world when that thing was just set in place. Now I look for dates on everything, manhole covers, old bricks, the works. It's like a free history lesson hiding in plain sight.
