Found a hidden gem of a trail behind the old mill on River Road yesterday
I was walking near the abandoned textile mill on River Road in Lowell and noticed a small gap in the fence. Decided to check it out and found this overgrown path that led to a tiny waterfall I had never seen before. There were 3 old stone steps carved into the hillside that must be from the 1800s. Has anyone else stumbled on something like that just off a main road around here?

Walked right past that fence crack a dozen times before noticing it. @carr.lee's right about the mill wheel pit, my buddy actually sent me photos from that spot last summer. Water was still running through it and you could see the old iron fittings rusted into the stone. Wild how something that ran the whole town's machines is just sitting there forgotten now.

Read somewhere that urban explorers found a old mill wheel pit near there that still had water flowing through it. Idk if that's the same spot but it lines up with that carved staircase you mentioned. Crazy to think about how much history is just sitting hidden behind fences and overgrowth around here.
