Three leaves of poison ivy usually have a reddish tint in spring, so look for that next time.

Wait you walked that path for TWO years before noticing the poison ivy? That stuff usually stands out like crazy with those shiny three-leaf clusters. Must be blending in real good with the other greenery or something.
