Hit 500 miles on my walking shoes and found something weird in the sole

Was on my usual loop through Miller Park yesterday. Felt a weird lump under my right foot. Took the shoe off and peeled back the insole. Found a perfect, flat river stone about the size of a quarter tucked way in the heel. Must have picked it up on a trail walk weeks ago and it just worked its way in. Anyone else ever find a surprise like that in their gear?

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I pulled on a winter glove and felt something weird and crumbly. Turned out a mouse had stored a whole pile of birdseed in the fingers! Nature really finds a way into our stuff. Makes you shake everything out twice now.
