I kept seeing people miss the best part of the old mill path

On my walk yesterday, I noticed almost everyone turns around at the big fallen log about a mile in. If you go just fifty feet past it, there's a tiny side trail that leads to a perfect view of the waterfall's upper cascade. I've been walking this loop in Mill Creek Park for three years and only found it because my dog chased a squirrel down there. Has anyone else found a hidden spot everyone walks right by?

Man, that's so true. I've learned to always check past any obvious trail block. Last fall I found a whole meadow full of wild blueberries just past a "trail closed" sign that was clearly old and fallen over. Most people just turned back at the sign. My rule now is to go at least a hundred steps past where everyone else stops. You'd be shocked how often the real payoff is just around the next bend.

Honestly, it's wild how many people just follow the crowd. They see a log and think 'welp, that's the end of the line.' I bet half of them are just turning around because the person in front of them did. It's like that at the grocery store too, everyone lines up at the first checkout even when the second one is wide open. People just go on autopilot and miss the good stuff.

My buddy almost missed the hidden hot spring at the state park because the main trail looked washed out. He only found it because his kid wandered off the path chasing a butterfly.
