I walked past this weird rock pile for months thinking it was just trash
There's a trail near my house with this pile of flat stones stacked in a little tower, maybe two feet high. I saw it every walk for like six months and figured some kids made a mess or it was just random. Then last week, I saw an older guy carefully adding a new stone to it. I stopped and asked him about it, and he said it's a trail marker and a kind of wish stone thing people have kept up for over ten years. He showed me some stones with tiny paintings on them. I felt pretty dumb for writing it off. It's actually a cool little piece of local history I was ignoring. Have you ever found something on a walk that you totally misjudged at first?

Ten years? That pile's been there a decade and you walked by it for half a year thinking it was junk. That's wild. I would have made the same mistake though, most people would just see a stack of rocks. Makes you wonder what other stuff we ignore every day. Good thing you finally asked.

My brain just files random piles under "not my problem" and moves on. The number of times I've ignored what turned out to be important mail because it was next to a pizza flyer is embarrassing. We're all just out here missing treasures because they look like trash. Probably walked past a million bucks thinking it was a weird chair.

Actually Richard, it was only six months, not ten years. Still crazy how we overlook stuff right in front of us.
