My new walking shoes were a total waste of $120

I bought these fancy trail runners for my daily walks, thinking they'd be better for my knees on the uneven paths in the park. Wore them for a week and got the worst blisters on both heels, which totally ruined my routine. I even tried breaking them in slowly, but they just never felt right. Now they're sitting in my closet while I'm back in my old, worn-out pair. Has anyone found a good brand that doesn't need a painful break-in period?

Have you tried thicker socks? I had the same blister problem until I switched to hiking socks, they made a huge difference.

That's the worst feeling, spending good money on shoes that fight you every step. I had a pair that gave me blisters in the exact same spot, right on the back of the heel. It felt like they were personally offended by my feet. Sometimes the fancy tech just doesn't work out, and you end up missing the old broken-in pair. I hope you find a better solution than just letting them collect dust in the closet.

Okay but "totally ruined my routine" feels a bit much for some blisters. It's a week of discomfort, not a broken leg. Just wear different socks or put a bandage on and keep walking in your old shoes while they heal. Sometimes gear just doesn't work out, it's not that deep.
