Heard a client say 'just make it pop' and I almost walked out
I was on a call with a client from Chicago last Tuesday. They wanted a logo revision and kept repeating 'make it pop' without any details. I asked four specific questions about colors and style, they said 'you're the pro.' So I sent three options with notes on why each worked. They picked the first one I made. Has anyone else had a client give zero direction and then act like you overthought it?

You ever read that study about how people make decisions faster when they have fewer options? Sounds like your client is the perfect example. They probably just wanted to feel like they had input without actually doing the work. I swear some people think "make it pop" is a technical term or something. Sounds like you handled it right though, just give them what they want and move on.

Yeah but didn't you hear about that whole thing where people actually make worse choices when they have too few options? I read something about how if you only give someone two choices they sometimes panic and pick the wrong one. It's like their brain thinks they're missing out on something better even if they're not. So it's not just about making it fast, it's about making them feel like they saw enough to be sure. That's probly why your client wanted those fake options, they needed to feel like they considered everything before they settled.

My friend had a similar thing with a menu, @riley43, they needed three options just to pick a sandwich.
