Watched my friend try to give a webinar last year. A raccoon family broke into her attic right above her desk. The scratching and thumping was so loud. Her whole audience heard it. She had to explain the noise was wildlife, not her house falling apart.

My cousin had squirrels in her walls for three months before she caved and called pest control. They set up a one-way door so the animals could leave but not get back in. The key is to seal every possible entry point with steel mesh after they're gone, otherwise new ones just move right in. She tried those ultrasonic repellent gadgets first and they did absolutely nothing. Honestly, paying a pro was the only thing that worked for good.

Oh man, that one-way door trick is genius! My neighbor had a similar thing with raccoons, and the constant noise at night was unreal. Sometimes you just gotta call in the experts.
