After a summer of wobbly fences, I'm telling everyone: soak your posts first.

Seriously, @phoenixb34, soaking helps the treatment sink in deep, which actually fights rot way better than a dry post ever could.

My buddy skipped soaking his fence post and it rotted out in two years.

But soaking posts is a total waste of time. It doesn't prevent wobbling, it just gets the wood wet and can make it rot faster. Skip the soak and just pack the dirt tight around a good treated post. All that water just weakens the wood over time. A solid install beats a soggy post any day.
