Finally got my neighbor to wave back after six months
I moved into my house in January and the man next door always looked away when I said hello. Last Tuesday, I was planting daffodils and he came over to ask about the bulbs. We talked for twenty minutes about his garden back in Ohio. Has anyone else had a slow start with a neighbor that turned around?

Keep at it with the small talk. My neighbor was the same, a total brick wall. I started just commenting on things I saw, like "Your roses are coming in nice" when I got the mail. It takes a shared interest to really break through, sounds like gardening was yours. Sometimes they just need to see you're not going away and that you notice the same stuff they do.

Wait, your neighbor was a total brick wall and you broke through with ROSES? That's wild. I tried that with my old neighbor's tomato plants and got a grunt at best. You must have some magic touch.
