Just realized my quiet neighbor is a champion whistler

Heard this amazing sound while taking out the trash. Turned out it was Mr. Jenkins from two doors down, practicing for a contest. Who knew? Anyone else have a neighbor with a hidden talent?

Guess I'll start practicing my own secret talent of competitive trash can lid banging. Might finally give Mr. Jenkins a run for his money. The neighborhood talent show is officially on.

My cousin's garage band practiced trash can percussion for a whole summer. The key was using different lids for high and low notes. They even used a rubber mallet instead of a stick to cut down on the ringing sound. It actually sounded pretty good once they got the rhythm down.

Found some old paint buckets in my basement that worked great for the same thing. The metal ones ring too much but the plastic ones give a nice deep thump. We used a cut up pool noodle on a stick as a beater to keep the noise down for the neighbors. What did your cousin use for a bass drum sound?
