Warning: Don't ignore your compost pile this spring
I saw how it turned my kitchen scraps into black gold that made my flower beds explode. Made me realize my 'waste' was just fuel for something new growing.

That rich, earthy smell when you turn a good pile gets me every time. Last year mine got so hot from grass clippings it steamed on a cool morning. Felt like some kind of garden alchemy, turning old leaves and coffee grounds into something warm and alive. Almost burned my hand checking the temperature, which was a dumb but honest surprise.

Oh man, I've done that. Got way too excited one year when my pile was steaming and just grabbed a big handful to smell it. Totally forgot heat comes with that deal. Jumped back and dropped black gold all over my shoes. My neighbors probably thought I was doing some weird dance. It's like the pile punishes you for being too eager.
