Heard a kid call a digital camera a 'big phone' and it got me thinking
I was at the park and a little boy pointed at my old Canon PowerShot and asked his mom why my phone was so big. It made me remember when a camera was just a camera, not an app you close by mistake. Do you think gadget reviews focus too much on phones now and skip over the good stuff that just does one job?

That's a really good point. Gadget sites used to cover all kinds of things, from mp3 players to handheld GPS units. Now it feels like 90% phone reviews, 10% everything else. My nephew wanted a simple music player and I had a hard time finding a decent review for one. Everything is about which phone has the best speaker instead.

Totally agree. I tried to find a review for a basic point-and-shoot camera last month and it was a nightmare. Every site just had endless articles about the latest iPhone camera features. It feels like they only chase the big traffic now and forget about the other useful gear.

Yeah, it's a real pain. I've had some luck going to old school photography forums for that kind of thing, not the big tech news sites. You have to dig a bit, but the people there actually use the gear and give straight answers. The big sites just follow the clicks, so they only talk about what gets the most views. It's frustrating when you need info on something that isn't the newest phone.
