Just realized my old way of checking the weather was a whole show

I used to watch the local news at 6am for the forecast, but now I just ask my Echo Show in the kitchen while making coffee. Anyone else have a gadget that replaced a whole routine?

You know, I used to think those smart speakers were just lazy. But is it really that different from turning on the TV? At least with the Echo I'm not sitting through ten minutes of traffic and sports I don't care about. It just gives me the one thing I need so I can pick an outfit. I guess I traded a show for a quick answer, and honestly, I don't miss the commercials.

Remember when getting the news meant actually waiting for it? My dad used to have the whole paper spread out at the table, but now my phone just yells headlines at me while I'm still in bed. Feels like we traded a whole morning ritual for a notification blip.

Totally get what you mean @harpery47. I put my phone on do not disturb before bed and leave it in another room. Forces me to actually get up and make coffee before I see the world's chaos. That little delay brings back some of that quiet morning feeling. It's not the same as the newspaper, but it stops the phone from yelling at me. Makes the news feel like something I choose to check, not something that attacks me before my eyes are even open.
