Rant: Everyone keeps saying the new phone's battery is bad, but I think they're just using it wrong.

I've had mine for three months and get a full day easily by turning off the always-on display, something most reviewers don't even mention. What's one gadget feature you think people overlook that makes a huge difference?

Actually turning down the screen brightness manually makes a bigger dent than any auto setting. Auto-brightness always overshoots, especially indoors. My phone stays at like 30% inside, looks fine, and saves a ton of power. People just get used to a blazing screen and never adjust it.

Turning off location services for most apps was my battery life miracle.

Right, turning off the always-on display is a game changer. It's like people forget phones have settings. I turned off background app refresh for most things and my old phone gained like two extra hours. Why do we even let apps update when we aren't looking at them?
