A contractor in Boise told me my river rock choice was causing drainage issues in his builds.
He said the smooth, round stones I'd been specifying for years were creating a 'bathtub effect' under foundations, so I switched to a more angular, crushed granite for better water flow.

My river rock was basically building secret pools under houses. Guess I owe that Boise guy a coffee for saving me from a foundation lawsuit.

Man, I feel that. I once used river rock as a "drainage fix" and basically built a hidden water slide for my own crawl space. The only thing I was draining was my bank account, just more slowly. That Boise guy would have had to send me a bill for a whole pot of coffee, not just a cup.
