His sketches of rock layers are so detailed. Modern methods are faster, but lack that personal touch.

Actually heard old surveyors would draw entire property lines by hand. They'd mark them with cairns instead of GPS pins.

Okay but are those maps even right tho. Hand drawn stuff is nice for art but for real property lines, I'd trust GPS more. People get nostalgic but like, it's just lines on paper without modern tech backing it up. Sure they look cool, but is it really that big a deal. Maybe back then it was all they had, but now we know better.
