Question about the 'granite is boring' take from a guy at the Tucson Gem Show

He said all the granite countertops made it a 'basic rock' now, but I argued that seeing a polished slab in a kitchen totally misses the point of its massive, slow-forming crystal structure you can only really get in the field, like at Enchanted Rock in Texas.
