Finally got my color fades clean after watching so many people rush the heat base
I kept seeing murky blends in demos where they'd add the second color too fast. Letting the first layer get to a proper honey heat before applying the next one made all the difference on my last set of pendants. How do you guys judge that sweet spot temperature?

I mean, I've always gone by the color change to a deep honey, but timing it is tricky. Do you watch for a specific glow or just wait a set number of seconds after the glass goes clear?

Yeah, the "deep honey" color @val_williams mentioned is the only real sign. Counting seconds never works because every stove is different. If you wait for a specific glow, you've probably already gone too far. It's all about that quick shift in the pan, and then you pull it off the heat fast.

Wait for a specific glow? That's the part that gets me. I've never seen a pan "glow" unless it's literally melting. Are we talking about the sugar itself or some weird reflection?
