Ngl, my color frit kept turning muddy for a solid three months

Turns out my kiln was ramping down 50 degrees too fast, which was killing the vibrancy. Anyone know a good way to check ramp rates without a fancy controller?

Honestly, can you just time how long it takes to cool from one temp to another with a basic thermometer?

Right? Tried that once with a cup of coffee and a meat thermometer. Took like twenty minutes just to drop ten degrees, and I kept zoning out and missing the mark. Felt like watching paint dry, honestly.
