Had to argue against tempered glass on a recent bathroom mirror install

The homeowner was convinced it was safer, but for a wall-mounted mirror, it's overkill. We had a good laugh when I explained the cost difference for no real benefit.

Mirrors over fireplaces fall more than people realize. I had to rehang one last month after it pulled the drywall anchors out. The heat from the fireplace weakens the wall material over time. It's not about the mirror deciding to jump, it's about the hardware failing when you least expect it. A couple of heavy picture hooks and some common sense keeps it from being a real problem.

Doubt that mirror causes real problems. Seems like making a big deal over nothing.
