Why mastic won me over for duct sealing

I always thought duct tape was good enough for fixing leaks. After seeing a system lose pressure because the tape failed, I tried mastic on a job last month. It sticks better, handles temperature swings, and cuts down on callbacks. Now I use it for every seal and it just works.

My friend's duct tape peeled off in a hot attic last year. He used mastic on the next job and it held up through winter. No callbacks since then.

I always used tape, but @rubyshah's story has me switching to mastic.

We did an attic retrofit in Phoenix last summer where the cheap tape failed in just two months. I've always trusted foil tape for small fixes, but seeing it peel like that changed my tune. Switched to mastic on the next three jobs and the seals are still perfect. What brand did your friend use?
