My podcast discovery method from years ago feels ancient now
I used to just hear about shows from friends or maybe the radio. These days, my phone is flooded with suggestions I never asked for. I got tired of having a huge list of podcasts I never played, so I started picking only three to follow each season. It took a few months to get the hang of it, but now I look forward to my listens instead of feeling stressed. Kind of makes you miss the old simple ways, doesn't it?

In 2005, I found podcasts through blog recommendations regularly.

Yeah, the whole blog recommendation thing. I mean, my friend Alex basically lived on these gaming blogs back then. He'd find one podcast, like a World of Warcraft show, through a sidebar link. Then he'd just listen to whatever that host mentioned liking. It was this tiny chain of maybe four shows total, all about the same stuff. He never really broke out of that bubble until iTunes added a directory.

Remember the old way also meant you might never find anything new. I had maybe three shows total back then because discovery was so hard. Your three-per-season idea actually sounds like a nice balance.
