Am I the only one who prints travel plans after a phone died at the airport?
Last week, I flew to a friend's wedding in Chicago and only had my flight info on my phone. At the airport, my phone battery died because I forgot to plug it in overnight. I could not check my gate number or the time for my next flight in Dallas. I ended up missing that connection completely. It took me four extra hours to get on another plane. Now, I always print my itinerary on paper and put it in my bag. I also set an alarm to charge all my devices before I leave. This one easy thing stops a lot of trouble and keeps my trips on track.

Happened to me in Barcelona. Now I always print the map and address before I leave the airport. I keep a paper copy in my bag separate from my phone. Asking at a small grocery store or newsstand got me better directions than trying to find a tourist. Their local advice usually points you the right way without the confusing extra details.

Lost without a phone? Ever tried a paper map as backup?
