PSA: Siding materials have shifted over the years.
Wood was big back then. Now it's all about stuff that lasts longer with less care.

Isn't it wild how much things have changed? My old house had wood siding and the constant upkeep was such a pain. I really do miss how it looked though, nothing beats that classic style. These new materials are definitely easier to live with, even if they don't have the same charm.

What actually happened to it? Was it the paint failing, or did the wood itself rot out from moisture? Ten years seems so fast for cedar to go... makes you wonder about the prep work or if it was just a bad batch.

Ten years for cedar siding to fail is just crazy. That stuff is supposed to last decades with basic care. There had to be a major issue with the install or the wood itself was already in bad shape. Properly treated and sealed cedar shouldn't rot out that fast. Makes me question the quality of materials people are getting these days. It's no wonder everyone is switching to composites and vinyl.
